Treasurer Pat O'Hara came up with the idea of opening a second hand bookstore to help meet funding needs.
'The BookShelf' began as a small area in 'Rusty's Bazaar'.
The shop was opened in 1980 at 99 Grafton St and was called 'The Bookshelf' because in the beginning, one shelf was all it had.
The shop moved to 95 Grafton st on 31st July 2006.
Jay Morris is the current Bookshelf co-ordinator.
